The DP World controlled Port of Southampton has taken delivery of 8 new straddle carrier cranes for their port side operations, retiring 8 far less efficient cranes in the process.
As part of a multi-million pound investment the port have decommissioned a total of 36 cranes toward a far greener approach to their operation. The New and improved cranes also come with the ability to twin lift containers leading to a faster turnaround potential on quay.
The cranes were delivered from the assembly plant in Gydnia, Poland aboard the MV Meri. Once the cranes have passed the suitable performance tests and additional installation and integration works they will be fully operational to continue Southamptons push toward a Greener Portside Operation.
